Each year, we grow our own crops at Threshermen's Park to use during our Annual Reunion held over Labor Day weekend. Our Sorghum Mill uses the sorghum we grow. Other crops are ground into cornmeal and buckwheat flour. And one mustn't forget threshing -- it's hard to thresh air so we grown our own crops to ensure threshing will be demonstrated each year. Our Crops & Threshing Committee (led by Chairman Dick Kuhlow) meets each month to work out the details of planting, fertilizing and harvesting our crops. Chairmen and members of other committees (such as Sorghum, Plowing and Cornmeal/Buckwheat) are encouraged to attend to make sure their needs and concerns are met. If you would like to participate in this event, please contact Dick. His phone number can be found on our Committee Chairs page. |
