The Rock River Thresheree Association is planning a benefit Pancake Day Saturday, March 18, at the Carlton Hotel.
Serving will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will continue into the evening. The menu, to be served family style, will include pancakes, sausage, coffee and cake. Continuous movies of previous Thresherees will be shown free throughout the serving hours.
Proceeds will be used towards the purchase of approximately 80 acres of land south of Edgerton that will be used as a permanent display grounds and museum for the Thresheree.
The twenty active members of the Association are enthusiastic over their progress of plans to date. John Horton, president, and Kenneth Sayre explained that work on the grounds and the erecting of buildings will begin as soon as weather permits. Railroad tracks will eventually encircle the land, where it is planned to operate a steam railroad engine. Thresheree machines already owned by the association will be displayed in buildings and the collection is expected to be increased. Plans also call for the bringing in of some original log buildings and an early American blacksmith shop.
The annual Rock River Association Thresheree will be held at the site this year and it is planned to open the grounds to visitors each week end. All the grain to be used at the Thresheree will be raised on the tract of land.
