Marvin Helgesen (1910-1995) Member #1 Rock River Thresheree Class of 1964 Marvin Helgesen, 85, a resident of Rock Haven died there Sunday. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schneider Funeral Home. [Source: The Janesville Gazette, Monday, December 18, 1995, p. 2B] JANESVILLE -- Marvin Helgesen, age 85, of Rock Haven died there Sun., Dec. 17, 1995. He was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Milton, WI, the son of Sever and Mary Ann (Kundert) Helgesen. He lived in the Janesville are all his life. He married Eleanor Isaac April 7, 1934, in Rockford; she died Oct. 22, 1994. He was in the farm implement business for many years, and following retirement he worked with his brothers. He was a member of the Janesville Masonic Lodge #55, the Madison Zor Shrine. He was an outdoorsman and hunter and one of the founders and past presidents of the Rock River Thresheree. In 1974, he received the First Annual Milton Civic Award. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Helgesen of Greenfield, WI; 5 brothers: Elmer Helgesen of Lac Du Flambeau, WI, Alvin (Dorothy) Helgesen, Robert (Kathleen) Helgesen, both of Evansville, Donald Helgesen of Janesville, and Richard Helgesen of Ocala, FL; 3 sisters: Edna (Carl) Beyer, Hilda Nitz, and Lillian Ramsey, all of Janesville. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lester and Merwood Helgesen; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wed., Dec. 20, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jim Melvin officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Schneider Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
