Duane E. Richards (1933-2000) Member #11 Rock River Thresheree Class of 1964 SOUTH BELOIT, IL -- Duane E. Richards, age 66, died Sat. afternoon, May 6, 2000. He was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Beloit, the son of Arthur and Myrtle (Myers) Richards. He was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School, had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Manchester Free Church. He retired from the Rock Co. Highway Dept. after over 15 years of faithful service. Duane was well known throughout the area for the beautiful gladiolus that he grew and shared with many churches and other organizations. He was a long time member and past president of the Rock River Thresheree, a member of the Retired Highway Workers and the AFSCME. Duane is survived by his loving mother, Myrtle Richards; brothers, Harold (Jennell) Richards and Donald (Susan) Richards, all of South Beloit; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Wed., May 10, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Manchester Free Church (corner of Manchester and Free Church Roads, S. Beloit). Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Pastor Daniel Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family would appreciate memorials to Beloit Regional Hospital or the Manchester Free Church. Overton Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
