Melvin A. Cassels, 90, of 313 Stoughton Road, Edgerton, formerly of Janesville, died Thursday at Edgerton Memorial Community Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Schneider Funeral Home, Janesville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

JANESVILLE -- Melvin A. Cassels, age 90, of 313 Stoughton Rd., Edgerton, a former Janesville resident, died Thurs., Dec. 21, 1995, at Memorial Community Hospital. He was born in R. College, NC, on Aug. 30, 1905, the son of Rhuben and Minnie (Franklin) Cassels. Melvin was married to Lena Fuchs in 1924 in Rockford, IL; she died in 1971. He later married Norma Heller who preceded him in death in March 1992. Mr. Cassels was self-employed as a welder for many years in Janesville. He was a member of Orchard View Alliance Church and the Rock River Thresheree.

Surviving are 1 son, Marvin Cassels of Janesville; 3 grandchildren, JoAnn (George) Lawrence, Don (Dee) Cassels and Donna (Greg) Hughes; 4 great-grandchildren: Sarah and Daniel Lawrence, Mike and Heath Peaslee; 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held at the Schneider Funeral Home on Wed., Dec. 27, 1995, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronald Lord officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Schneider Funeral Home.
