J[ohn] Harold Bauer, 73, of 2605 Hawthorne, died Saturday, Jan. 14, at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.

A life-long resident of Rock County, he was born April 6, 1904, in Milton, the son of J. Philip and Inez Killam Bauer. He married Ardis Rice Aug. 15, 1932 in Milton.

He was a builder in the area for 50 years. Following semi-retirement in 1965 he moved to Janesville from Milton.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Wayne, Janesville, Warren, Madison, and Wayland, Bettendorf, Iowa; a sister, Esther Clark, Milton, and six grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, with burial in Milton Cemetery. Rev. James Mohr, First Congregational Church, officiating.

A memorial will be established.
