JANESVILLE -- Elmer L. Taylor, age 83, of Janesville, died at his home Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003. Elmer was born in Ohio, IL, on April 16, 1920, the son of Robert and Viola (Schoff) Bohm. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Corps, having served during World War II. Elmer married Helen Marie DePauw on Nov. 21, 1941; she preceded him in death on June 13, 1991. He married Iona Bruhn on Dec. 3, 1994; she died on Dec. 16, 1998. Elmer was employed as a boiler operator at the Great Lakes Navy Base for 20 years, and after retiring from there, worked as a boiler operator at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a time. He had been a Janesville resident since 1975 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Rock River Thresheree. He was active as a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program.

Elmer is survived by 5 children: Ronald Taylor of Milton, Kay "Sue" Taylor of Gurnee, IL, and Patricia (William) Thomas of Janesville; a beloved friend, Maggie Haffery of Janesville; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, LaVern (Eleanor) Taylor and Warren (Ann) Taylor, both of Princeton, IL. In addition to his 2 wives and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Taylor Jr.; and his step-father, Carroll Taylor Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church, 302 N. Parker Dr., Janesville, with a visitation at the church for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Rev. Judi Huseth will officiate. Committal services with burial to follow will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville.
