MIDDLETON -- Donald J. Wittenburg, age 83, of Middleton, died on Monday, December 30, 1996, at his home. He was born on June 22, 1913, in Middleton, the son of Elmer and Carrie (Nadler) Wittenburg. Don farmed for many years and later worked for the City of Middleton. He married the former Loretta Raemisch on November 30, 1939, in Waunakee. Don was a member of the Rock River Thresheree. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; a son, D. Rick (Patricia) Wittenburg of Madison; three granddaughters, Tina Weger, Kelly Friedli and Nicole Mulchay; and six great-grandchildren, Shea, Paige, Christopher, Alex, Michael and Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bernadine Wittenburg and Eunice Kessenich. Funeral services will be held at the Gunderson Funeral Home, 7435 University Avenue (near Parmenter Street), Middleton, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 1997, with Fr. John Auby and Rev. Curtis Everson presiding. Burial will be in Middleton Junction Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
