Robert W. Higgins, 66, of 28 S. Martin, Janesville, died today at Mercy Hospital. Schneider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

JANESVILLE -- Robert W. Higgins, age 66, of 28 S. Martin Rd., died Friday, July 17, 1987, in Mercy Hospital. He was born May 21, 1921, in Menomonee, WI. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1940 and married Ellen Stacey Sept. 5, 1942, in Janesville. He was with F. W. Woolworth for over 46 years; he retired as manager of the downtown Janesville store in 1983. He then worked at Stacey Suburban 76 at Hwy. 14 and 51 for 4 years after his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Quartermaster Corps in the Southwest Pacific Theater. He was a past master of Janesville Lodge 55-F. & A.M., secretary of Rock River Thresheree, president of the Downtown Merchants Association; and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters: Brenda Knowling of Millserburg, OH, Roberta Duffy of LaPorte, IN, and Amy Higgins of Janesville; 6 grandchildren; 5 sisters: Mrs. Mildred Young, Marie Miller and Helen Brandt all of Janesville, Myra Brady of Rockton, IL, and Kathleen Morrison of Philadelphia, PA.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Schneider Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Schneider Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
