EDGERTON -- Robert L. Silverthorn, 38, of Route 2, a former Footville resident, died Sunday at home. Rock County Deputy Coroner Richard Messner ruled the death a suicide from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Born March 4, 1943, in Rock County, he was employed 14 years by Fairbanks Morse Co., Beloit. He was a member of the Rock River Thresheree and United Steel Workers of America.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Randy Suiter of Janesville and his grandmother, Mrs. Elsie Nightengale of Janesville.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Newcomer-Silverthorn Funeral Home, Orfordville, with burial in Bethel Cemetery, Center Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
