George W. Klein (1924-2001) Member #121 Rock River Thresheree Class of 1977 George W. Klein, 76, of Fort Atkinson, formerly of Milton, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at the Fort Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Elkhorn on July 8, 1924, to Roland and Gladys (Wheelock) Klein. He had been employed at Lemke Trucking Co., the former Rock Paint and Chemical Co., the former L&M Vault Co. in Janesville and later at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Klein was a member of the Rock River Thresheree Association and enjoyed driving his 1935 W30 McCormick Deering tractor to pull the water wagon at the association's annual thresheree in Edgerton. Surviving are two brothers, Alvin of Milwaukee and Frank of Humbird; three sisters, Kathryn Fay of Elkhorn, Marie Thompkins of Eau Claire and Ruth (Frederick) Wood of Chicago, Ill.; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Russell, William and Reynard. Funeral services will be held at the Dunlap Memorial Home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, with the Rev. Michael Duncan of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
