(1929-2007) Member #145 Rock River Thresheree Class of 1981 JANESVILLE- - Stanley J. Krueger, 78, formerly of Janesville and 747 Fish Court, Grand Marsh, WI, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tomah, WI. He was born in Janesville on March 14, 1929, the son of William and Dorothy (Soergel) Krueger. He graduated from Milton Union High School in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Stanley married Ruth Ann Gilbertson Hookstead on Nov. 11, 1978, and she preceded him in death on May 26, 1996. He had been employed by Shopko. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, and life member of Disabled American Veterans, serving as commander for many years. Stanley loved fishing and hunting. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joanne Krueger of Janesville; 3 nieces: Pat (Jerry) Holmes of Milton, Barb (David) Stricker of Janesville and Nancy (Allen) Peterson of Edgerton; a nephew, Bill (Cheryl) Krueger of Columbia City, IN; special friends and caregivers: David Byrd of Grand Marsh, Russell Olson, Marre Carpenter, Neil and Nykolle Aguilar; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 2 brothers, Fred and Frank. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007, at Schneider, Apfel, Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home, with Rev. James Melvin officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Schneider, Apfel, Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home.
