Armand Louis "Bim" Graffin (1924-2005) Member #173 Rock River Thresheree Class of 1983 Armand Louis "Bim" Graffin, 80, of Fort Atkinson, died on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at Fort Memorial Hospital. Bim was born on Dec. 19, 1924, in Ismay, Mont., the son of Ruben and Romelle (Stickney) Graffin. He grew up in the Deerfield area, and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. On May 4, 1946, Bim married Geneva Schluter. Geneva preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 1989. Bim owned and operated Graffin's Service in Cambridge from 1960 until 1984. More recently, Bim had worked part-time for Capital Ford, London Service and NAPA Auto Parts. Bim was a life member of the Deerfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9424. He also was a member of the Cambridge Fire Department and could be seen at all the parades driving the antique firetruck. He was a member of the Rock River Thresheree Assocation and restoring antique tractors was his passion. He enjoyed traveling, camping, stock car racing, NASCAR and was a big Matt Kenseth fan. Most of all, he liked spending time at family get-togethers, seeing old friends and customers, and being with his special friend, Marcie. Surviving are three sons, Dennis (Joy) Graffin of Cambridge, David (Clarinda) Graffin of Jefferson and Dan (Deb) Graffin of Cottage Grove; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Graffin of Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren, Cory, Kevin, Jennifer, Jamie, Heather, Jackie, Cody and Becky; and his special friend, Marcie Davis. Bim also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dale; and a sister, Darlene McIlwee. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel in Cambridge, with the Rev. Clint Schnekloth officiating, with military rites to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the services.
