Clarence F. Zweifel

Clarence F. Zweifel, age 89, a long-time Monticello resident, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the Rowin Group Home in Albany where he had resided the past several years.

He was born on April 25, 1915, in Washington Township, the son of Fred and Henrietta (Holcomb) Zweifel. He attended rural school in Washington Township and farmed with his family on the Zweifel homestead farm until it was sold in 1966. The family moved to Monticello where Clarence was employed at Monroe Cheese Corporation from 1979 until 1995.

Following his retirement, he volunteered maintenance work on the streets and parks in Monticello. The Village honored him with a plaque in recognition of his many hours of community service.

Mr. Zweifel was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello and a former member of Reformation United Church of Christ in Washington Township where he was confirmed. He was a long time member of the Rock River Thresheree.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lillian Zweifel on August 9, 1997. He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home of Monticello. Rev. Lawrence Balleine of Zwingli United Church of Christ officiated. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Monticello.
