STOUGHTON -- Michael Robert Schmidt, age 43, of Stoughton, died on Jan. 11, 2004, at his home. Mike was born July 4, 1960, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Waldmann) Schmidt. Mike married Anita Frauchiger on Sept. 18, 1993. He was retired from the National Guard after 18 years of service to his country. He served his country during Desert Storm.

Surviving are his wife, Anita Schmidt of Stoughton; mother, Dorothy Schmidt of Cambridge; sister, Lori (James) Alme of Stoughton; a niece, Ashley Alme; step-children, Dawn (Kevin) Krueger of Wilmington, Ill., Dena (Richard) Roberts of Cambridge, and Chad (Katrina) Friedli of Marshfield; seven step-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Cambridge. Burial will be in the Kroghville Cemetery, located in the town of Lake Mills. Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel in Cambridge, and also on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, from noon until the time of service.
