JANESVILLE -- Jacqueline E. (Simonds) Carson, age 71, of 1114 Milton Ave., died Mon., Aug.24, 1998, at Mercy Hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Janesville, the daughter of Elmer Fugate and Agnes (Gourley) Wilke. Jacqueline graduated from Janesville High in 1944. She was a Janesville area resident all of her life. She married James Carson, June 11, 1969, in Janesville. Jacqueline was a bookkeeper/secretary for 22 years for Marv Helgesen. She was also vice president and partner of Madison Mortgage Reports. She was an avid bowler.

Jacqueline is survived by her husband, James Carson of Janesville; 2 sons, Glenn Simonds of Afton and Joe Simonds of Janesville; a brother, Dick (Shirley) Fugate of Adams Friendship; nieces and nephews: Dawn, Robert, Jeff, Jay and Jan Fugate; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Wilke; her step-father Leo Wilke; and her brother, Robert.

Private family services will be held Thurs., Aug. 27, 1998, at Schneider Funeral Home, with Fr. Del Klink officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
