The 52nd Annual Rock River Thresheree Reunion will be held
over Labor Day weekend, August 29, 30 & 31 and September
1, 2008, at the Rock River Thresheree grounds in rural Edgerton,
Wisconsin. It opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. each day.
Our featured engine for 2008 is not an engine at all --
it's a private collection. The Wade family of Richmond, Wisconsin,
have generously agreed to let the Rock River Thresheree host
their collection. The brothers were famous for their love of
Nichols & Shepard steam traction engines. Over the past three
years, the Wades, club members, friends, neighbors and steam
enthusiasts have been hard at work preparing the over 80-piece
collection. Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
to view the Wade Bros. Collection!
Also of interest is our attempt at a world record-breaking
ring of over 20 threshers on Saturday, August 30th (if it rains,
we'll shoot for Sunday, August 31st). First we'll go for the
largest steam-powered ring at 11 a.m., then the largest gas-powered
ring at 1 p.m. Anyone interested in bringing a thresher or a
power (steam or gas) for the ring (or just to display) should
contact the club for more information.
Upon arrival at Threshermen's Park, you will find that
parking is free and abundant, as are all our shuttles (seat-filled
wagons pulled behind classic tractors). Ride a shuttle to the
main entrance gate where admission is only $6 for adults and
$1 for children aged 6-12 years old. Children aged 5 and under
are free.
From the gate, ride another shuttle to any location of
your choice in the park or get off and enjoy the walk. Our grounds
are handicap accessible and we will gladly provide in-park transportation
for those with special needs.
Since the Thresheree is an outdoor, rural event, we highly
recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and clothing. (Personally,
I recommend avoiding white clothing, too, especially if you plan
to ride the Cannonball!)
